The Posthouse – A Modern Take on Classic Brooklyn

Located in historic Clinton Hill, Brooklyn, The Posthouse offers sophisticated rental residences that blend classic industrial-inspired design with 21-century convenience.  This new 8-story building stands on the site of a former post office and is home to 143 apartments. With a location on one of the neighborhood’s main retail corridors, Myrtle Avenue, The Posthouse is surrounded by a variety of boutiques, bars and restaurants.

In addition, residences include natural wood flooring throughout, in-unit washer/dryers and individually-controlled heat and A/C.  Select homes are also complete with private terraces.

New Life For A Brooklyn Retail Landmark

Reimagined by GreenbergFarrow Architecture for developer United American Land, The Offerman House is a unique luxury loft rental community located in the heart of Downtown Brooklyn.  Constructed in 1893, the building is considered a prime example of Romanesque Revival architecture.  The landmarked historic facades on Fulton and Duffield Streets are clad with limestone, buff colored brick and terra cotta.

The Offerman House is a true piece of Brooklyn history. The building takes its name from its builder, Henry Offerman, the president of the Brooklyn Sugar Refining Company.  It has been home to a variety of retailers over the years, starting with the S. Wechsler & Brother dry goods store, which specialized in raw fabric, clothing and other textiles.

However, Martin’s Department Store was the building’s most notable tenant.  This store occupied the building for over 50 years - from 1924 to 1979.  During the 1960’s, Martin’s sold more wedding gowns than any other vendor in the country.









Today, The Offerman House has been reborn as 121 studio, one, two and three-bedroom homes, now available for lease through Citi Habitats New Developments.  These residential lofts were inspired by the building’s commercial roots, and offer spacious open floorplans, oversized floor-to-ceiling windows, ceiling heights over 15 feet and raised platform bedrooms.







In contrast to the ornate exterior, interior finishes are sleek and modern and were chosen to complement the unique architectural detail in each home.  Kitchens are complete with a full stainless-steel appliance package, custom pendant lighting and ‘Misty Carrera’ Caesarstone quartz countertops and backsplash.
