Bring your sunscreen Interior Collective Readers; I’m Melissa Morgan of Melissa Morgan Design. I have been designing contemporary homes in Southern California for the past 10 years and with summer coming to an end, I wanted to share with you one of my favorite beach projects. The challenge of this design was to create a luxury beach home that was durable for an active family and romantic for getaway weekends. The property features 180-degree views of Capistrano Beach and we used that as a focal point in our design. Focusing on durable hard finishes, architectural details, and natural light, we created a beach house fit for any occasion.
The master bedroom features panoramic views from Long Beach to Dana Point. The soffit contains a roller shade that adjusts with the setting sun.
We designed this bathroom to take full advantage of the view. By lowering the standard height of the vanity and placing the mirrors on the side walls, we ensured that the ocean would always be a part of the room.
This breakfast nook features a custom table we designed using Caesarstone's Pure White as the table top. The floors are a wood porcelain tile so that sand can be dragged in and swept out.
The family room is connected to the patio with a Nana Wall door system to take advantage of the coastal breezes. The seating comfortably fits 10 people so you can party in or out!
The island features Caesarstone's Haze color that compliments the flooring and neutral color palette of the home. The wine bar has acrylic shelves with led lights inside so when the sun goes down you can still find a wine glass.
This bright play room was built with plenty of storage. The custom cubbies are a great place to store toys when playtime is over and reading time begins. Enjoy your favorite book while relaxing in this comfortable Ligne Roset bean bag chair.
If reading inspires you, we built a custom stage where you can act out your favorite scene!
No beach house is complete without an outdoor barbecue and bar. The stainless steel appliances and Pure White countertops make this outdoor kitchen fun to look at and cook in.
