I love that brass has made a big comeback in the design world, and I hope it’s here to stay for a while. Sometimes the finish comes at a higher cost though, as most of the big box stores are still focused on bronze as an alternative to the standard nickel fixtures that are still so prevalent. With a little DIY know-how though, you can transform a basic flush mount light into something a lot more luxe, which is just what Sarah Gibson did.

She followed the tutorial found on The Hunted Interior on a $50 brushed nickel light from Home Depot.

Below is the the original DIY version, from The Hunted Interior by Kristin Jackson. She was on a mission to get the look she was after in a much more expensive fixture for less, and she definitely succeeded! Visit her site for the complete instructions.
