J. Witzel Interior Design is an Atlanta-based full-service interior design firm headed by Julie Witzel that specializes in modern interiors with special attention paid to architecture, light and the division of space. We are so pleased to feature a gorgeous Decatur, Georgia home designed by Julie as our house tour today. We love how she used natural materials such as wood and leather, along with a neutral color palette of grays and cool whites, to add warmth to the contemporary interior and balance the more avant-garde pieces such as the sculpture and light fixture.

The dining area is another great example of the J. Witzel aesthetic. It’s fairly light-flooded, but floor-to-ceiling white curtains filter the sunlight. The modern chairs and credenza play off the unfinished feel of the wood dining table. You can easily imagine this room being used for formal dinners as well as simple pleasures like a brunch buffet.

Though you may not immediately guess from the photos, this airy house is home to small children, so durability was key in the material selection. Caesarstone counters in Misty Carrera were the perfect choice for the kitchen, which has both an island and breakfast nook topped the surface.

For the bathroom, Pure White counters complement that beautiful soaking tub, while the blue and brown accents from the rest of the house are pulled in via window shade, and wall art. All together, this is one of the most cleanly modern yet comfortable and livable projects we’ve seen.
