One area in the home that can be overlooked is the entryway. In some homes, it becomes a place where piles of coats, shoes and bags begin to build up. When my kids come home from school, they immediately throw their backpacks and shoes onto the floor; it becomes a construction zone within seconds! Here are a few tips to keep your entryway free from clutter.
Instead of placing things on the floor or on a table, hang modern knobs to display bags, scarves and jackets. Above we see large wooden knobs that are both practical and super cool.
If you are working with a small space, create a faux mudroom by adding a tall built in, complete with shelves, hooks and a bench. You can keep it open or add doors to hide items. Keep it white for a clean, modern look. It will also make all of your coats and bags pop and look stylish.

Everyone can use a bench in his or her entryway. They can be helpful when taking shoes on and off, and you can also add storage inside the bench or under. Make it a little cozier by adding an animal hide on the top.

A simple shelf with hooks is sometimes all that you need. Use the top shelf for small bags and the hooks for larger bags and coats. A fun detail to add is hanging a light on one of the hooks. It works as a nightlight for some of those late night arrivals.
Do you use your entryway? Is it a necessity for you?
