When I get home from a long day of working, my first thought is how much I want to just lounge on my couch and watch an old Friends episode. My living space is very multi-functional. It’s the space where I entertain and also where I watch movies and eat buckets and buckets of popcorn. Living rooms can be both stylish and practical because of what it functions as. It’s also the one room that can either be too perfect or too relaxed. Here are a few tips to create a living room that you can be both proud of and that you can lounge your Saturday away in.
- Use throw pillows and throw blankets as a way to add color and pattern in your living room. This is a great tip especially if you have a neutral sofa or neutral furniture in general. I am constantly changing my mind when it comes to patterns and color, so investing in throw pillows is a good idea for me.
2. Add some style by creating an art gallery. Even if you have young kids, you can still create a gorgeous gallery and not worry about it getting destroyed. You can either create an eclectic wall using a variety of frames, or you can keep it uniform and choose the same color/wood frame for all of your art.
3. Plants are always a good idea. They add color and texture to your space. If you have a lightly decorated room that is more minimal, add plants for a dose of character and style.
4. Rugs change everything! They can make any room feel cozy and finished. They also can add color and pattern just like throw pillows. You can create a nice color scheme by pulling colors from the rug and using that same color in the pillows and accessories.
