Restaurant Tour | Fess Parker
It’s time to saddle up, we’re meeting with the folks of Fess Parker Winery. But first, a little history: In 1988, the late actor Fess Parker ventured to California’s Foxen Canyon Wine Trail in Santa Ynez and fell in love with the rolling hills and roaming wildlife. Dreaming of establishing a family business, Parker purchased 714 acres of land and planted a five-acre experimental Riesling vineyard. With the help of his two children, it expanded to a 120-acre vineyard with a 400-acre estate and winery, an inn, and more! Today, we’re taking a tour of their latest addition to the Fess Parker family- The Bear and Star restaurant.
The name is a combination of Parker’s two homes, Texas and California, and celebrates refined ranch cuisine paired with California’s bounty. Everything from the cattle to the vegetables are sourced from the Fess Parker Home Ranch. The only thing better than a farm-fresh meal is opening up a bottle of their house wine at the Sleek Concrete bar.
The bar features a cozy seating area. Pick between a spot by the large fireplace, a dining nook for 12, or a table for two. There’s space for everyone!
If you’re looking for a more intimate setting, take a peek at the Chef’s room, situated adjacent to the dining room and lounge. As owner, Eli Parker, said, “The center piece is really that beautiful chef’s table that is at the heart of the whole room” and made of Noble Grey if we might add!
The Chef’s Room is ideal for food lovers, as you have a large viewing window into the kitchen! If you watch closely, you may be able to learn a few things from the chefs.
Talk about a statement piece! We’ll take a table in the dining room, right by the fireplace with the Texan-inspired decor.
Next door, the Wine Room, our favorite. This private room is the perfect location for wine tastings and celebration.

Each room was fully thought-out to create a dining experience. The Wine Room is complete with a long chandelier and a custom- made Vanilla Noir table.
