Great Rooms with Great Style

Great rooms are large rooms that combine living rooms and dining rooms. They’re usually open to the kitchen, too. I love a great room designed to flow well between the individual areas. The best great rooms are ones that have a well thought-out floor plan (with substantial clearances around the furniture) and the ability to be accessed from more than one door. Lots of lighting is a must!

Some great rooms are very large, like the one below, taking advantage of a home’s square footage and giving each area (living, dining, and kitchen) its own zone. These types of great rooms are great for large families, especially ones that often entertains. The open floor would be great for dancing and kids to play.

The natural light of the great room below makes it look very large. By having such large windows along the entire wall to expose the beautiful view, the room has a sense of being outdoors.

I love the space planning in this great room. The spaces flow well into each other, while each possessing its own style. Each area feels like a separate space, even though they’re less than 6 feet apart.
