Losing Your Marbles? 8 Ways to Work the Marble Trend into Your House and Wardrobe.

by ·

I'm such a huge fan of the marble and marbleizing technique trend that's crept into both fashion and home decor. It's a combination of some of my favorite things: bright colors, LOTS of colors, swirls, and organic shapes. I love seeing how artists and designers apply it in on unique surfaces like wallpaper, chocolate packaging, and lamps rather than just the traditional paper technique. Let’s see how you can jump on this trend.

Marble Painting and Skirt

1. Marbleized wallpaper

The marbleized technique has been applied in an oversized scale here on the walls. You can achieve a similar look like one found by buying large paper sheets and applying them to your walls. Lonny magazine featured a similar look here and Style Court explains a bit of the process here.

2. Framed marble artwork

In a similar vein (pun not intended), you can buy that large piece of marble paper and put it in a lovely frame as artwork to liven up the colors of your home. Pair it with bright colored sofa cushions and you’re set!

3. Marbled clothes

Stella McCartney’s fall/winter 2011/12 collection brought out several ways to wear marble. Here we see a blue-themed marble technique as a skirt, blouse, and shoes. Bonus point if you wear it altogether!

4. Marbled pillow cushions

A super easy way to stay on trend without breaking your budget is, of course, a throw pillow like this one by Kevin O’Brien at ABC Home. You can even keep your old pillows and use it to refreshen your living space.

5. Marbled packaging

Chocolate is always a desirable sweet. Put it in marbled packaging and I may frame it after devouring. This salted dark bar by Mary and Matt is perfection.

6. Marbled balloons

Bring marble into your next party! This black agate balloon is on trend and ever sophisticated. The agate adds in a depth that you just don’t get with solid colors. Buy some for your next party here

7. Marbled/agate lamp

Another simple way to add the trend into your home is with this lovely colored agate lamp.

8. Marbled blanket

Cozy up in marble with this blanket that serves as a slipcover for a sofa as well.

So, am I the only one a fan of the marbled technique? Will you be jumping on the trend? Let me know!
