There is nothing quite like decorating a nursery for your baby. As new moms and dads, we immediately start nesting when the time comes to add another to the family. I remember waking up some mornings and immediately planning out my to do list for my kids’ nurseries. It’s the first sign of the reality of your soon-to-be born child.

Before my son was born, I wanted to create a space that was minimal and modern, yet whimsical and fun. I didn’t want to take away from the beauty of life and I definitely wanted him to feel peaceful and content in his space. Similar to the room above, nurseries don’t have to be full of things. These are months that they can live without clutter, so enjoy it as a parent!

The muted blue tones in this nursery complement the pops of green, cream and white. It’s a serene environment that gives your child a calm space to sleep peacefully…. Or at least one would hope!

Above is a great example of displaying possessions that are special to you and your baby. I inherited a few of my mother's childhood vintage toys and placed them on floating shelves in my daughter's bedroom. It definitely added character and personality to her space. Also, if you want to keep the room looking modern, stay with neutral colored items.

This muted space is what it is because of the little details. From the elephant print to the giraffe sconces, everything has a purpose and it all comes together brilliantly. Just remember, less is always more in a modern nursery!

Are you currently nesting? Have you considered a modern nursery?
