How to Bring a Sense of Drama to Your Décor
I find interiors are always more interesting when something unexpected is going on. I’m immediately intrigued if a space is mysterious. Dramatic décor is delightful and surprising design choices are always appreciated. If you’re looking for new ideas to spice up your home, you might think about adding a few elements that give your space a sense of mystery, drama or surprise. Some of these examples might help.
In my experience it is rare to find a single room that encompasses all three elements, but this combination bathroom and dressing area in the image above does just that. There’s plenty of mystery in the art selections. For drama, look no further than the rich dark color palette being used. The use of the wood and steel industrial chest is a delightful surprise in this otherwise very traditional space.

Creating a dramatic moment in a room doesn’t have to be complicated. Something as easy as this bold red curtain installed on a track to separate functional areas in this space makes an undeniably dramatic statement.

Another way to introduce surprise is to be playful with shape or scale. Adding something like the vertically oriented fireplace shown here is a delightful change from the norm.

Even without the added drama of the clear glass walls shown above, creating mystery by painting one door in your home an unexpected color is just one way you could make an impact using the elements of mystery, drama and surprise.
