Hello, everyone! It's Joanna here from Arcadian Home blog, a beautiful place to find lots of interior design inspirations, including table decor, wall art and all sorts of wonderful lighting fixtures. I'm excited to be guest posting here on Interior Collective. I've brought along lots of inspiration for adding texture to rooms using velvet.
From high-spirited showhouse dining room to serene contemporary nursery, these eight rooms show off some of velvet's myriad of design possibilities. I hope you find an idea or two to add the beautiful look of this appealing fabric to your own interior spaces. Enjoy!
Over-the-top and fabulous, Deborah Wecselman’s dining room designed for Elle Decor’s Miami Showhouse, is filled metals like the molten gold letters and wonderful textures. Banquette style seating is upholstered in deep blue velvet accented with shaggy golden pillows. Are you ready to add velvet and a touch of glamour to your dining space?
From small ottomans to long sofas, velvet can be used to upholster all sorts of seating that can fit into just about any budget, from minimal to lavish. A softly curved bench is beautiful in tufted blue velvet with nailhead trim.
Velvet sofas seem to always be in favor. Here, deep blue covers a contemporary sofa. The look is enhanced with the addition of toss pillows in the same handsome hue. A cool chair in a bright contrasting color adds its own velvet vibe. This living room also features one of my favorite swing arm wall lamps everósuch an amazing contrast of size beside the massive unframed mirror.
Today, sumptuous velvet bedding is readily available in just about any style, from sleek contemporary to ruffled shabby chic. Washed velvets, soft silks and crisp cottons make for an appealing mixture in this vintage bedroom.
Velvet is also a lovely choice for baby's first room. This taupe and gray nursery is at once calm and stylish. Velvet drapery panels add a soft, comfortable and beautiful texture at the windows.
Velvet remains a go-to fabric for upholstered headboards. Here, a beautiful, slightly masculine, mocha velvet covers the entire bed in a brilliant design choice for a bedroom retreat. This lovely space is filled with lightófrom filtered sunlight by day and bedside lamps, over-sized chain chandelier and recessed lighting fixtures after dark.
Blue-gray drapes are stunning in this chic black and white space. It's a beautiful and appealing lookóelegant velvet softens the hard edges of black furnishings.
Sometimes, all a space needs is just a touch of velvet. In a neutral sitting room, velvet accent pillows and folded throws add both color and a comfortable feel. This is a quick and easy way to venture into the amazing world of velvety texture. Images 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8
