Designer Spotlight | Guggenheim Architecture and Design Studio
When architecture and interior design collide, you get Guggenheim Architecture and Design Studio. The Portland-based company works with clients from around the globe to create spaces as unique and dynamic as it is.
From residential to retail, this design firm has a knack for creating custom-tailored designs with a flair of modern style. The studio-based company uses a highly collaborative style between its office and clients in order to produce breathtaking and original spaces.
Take the kitchen design below, located in the Northwest Portland neighborhood. After the owners of the loft experienced a devastating fire that rendered their home unlivable, they found a silver lining and used it as an opportunity for a full kitchen and bath renovation.
Enter Guggenheim Architecture and Design Studio, who led the charge in transforming the space from ruins to riches. The design firm played off of the loft’s dynamic angles by selecting faceted geometrics and high contrast features. A custom-built overhead light from Ekko Workshop hangs over the Noble Grey kitchen island.
Next, let’s take a look at this master bath design in an Alphabet District townhouse. From the textured wood cabinets to the raw, exposed edges of the porcelain hex tiles behind the sink, this room is filled to the brim with texture and whimsy. Fresh Concrete countertops keep the space feeling modern and sleek while balancing out the bold features of the room. “One of the most sustainable design decisions you can make is to select timeless, durable materials,” says Jenny Guggenheim. “The level of durability paired with the elegant aesthetic Caesarstone provides is a no-brainer.”
Speaking of bold and unique, check out this Atwater Place kitchen remodel. The bright white kitchen is both modern and minimalistic without sacrificing a sense of creativity. Just look at the inventive use of mirrors underneath the Blizzard prep island: they create the illusion of open space while concealing casework and wine storage on the other side of the island. Clean-lined furnishings complement the southeast views of the Willamette River and accentuate the natural beauty of the home's surroundings.
The wonderful team over at Guggenheim prides itself on having a keen eye for cabinetry detailing and well-made hardware. They are certainly not ones to shy away from a stunning bold navy, either.
Their modern light fixtures are always eye-catching and, pardon our pun, lighten up any room.
Whether you’re after an all-white kitchen or an eclectic, colorful bathroom, Guggenheim Architecture and Design Studio can do it all. Every design is created with the utmost care and attention to detail and no two projects are alike. The design team has found the perfect balance of architecture, design and customization. Our only question is: when are they available to renovate our kitchen and bath?
