House Tour | Avenue Design

Urban and country don’t usually go together, but Avenue Design didn’t let that stop them, marrying design and location together in beautiful harmony. A state of the art urban oasis in the quiet countryside of Stouffville, Ontario, this 8,500 square foot home has a modern, Miami feel – the ultimate space for entertaining. Let’s explore together!

Avenue Design had free rein to work their magic on this custom home, built by EN2 Modern Homes. The goal was to create a modern home with rustic undertones. The property sits on more than two acres, so bringing elements of outside into the interior space was essential.

When working with such a large home, it’s best to keep in mind that the scale and proportion of furniture, art and accessories need to be in line with the vast rooms and high ceilings.  Oversized pieces work best to fill the space without creating a sense of clutter. By using warm hardwood throughout, wrapping the exterior stone into a feature dining wall as well as staircase tower, and then contrasting it with simple modern details – this home is a balance of warm and cool tones. By keeping the structure of the space quite neutral, Avenue Design was able to sprinkle in pops of color throughout with area rugs, toss pillows and artwork.

The kitchen is oversized and open concept – featuring a Caesarstone Pure White island with integrated walnut breakfast table perfect for casual meals during the week. The cutout in the island had to be precise to accommodate the walnut table, which slips right into the waterfall island. The two-tone dream kitchen even features a downdraft cooktop to that the kitchen window view wasn’t obstructed!

Bring the outdoors in! Not only can you dine at this gorgeous live edge table and have an open view to the backyard, but you can also appreciate the beautiful stone wall that cuts through and intersects with the kitchen cabinetry.

The fabulous L-shaped sectional is perfectly suited for this bright and spacious family room, giving the large space a cozy and intimate feel.

This office means business! The built-in corner shelving and strategically placed colors add a dramatic touch to this workspace.

An ingenious way to keep the master bedroom and closet open concept but with a bit of division - black stained oak louvers add an architectural detail to the space and offer a peekaboo to the room beyond.

Avenue Design maintained a unified and modern simplicity throughout the home, keeping the bathrooms fresh and clean with floating vanities and pops of color in the tile work as well as using Caesarstone Pure White for all niches, thresholds and benches.

The master bathroom was a bit of a treat – large scale porcelain slabs in a shimmery blue quartzite were used for a dramatic backdrop to the large shower which features not 1 but 2 showerheads and a rain shower. The tub window was lowered to highlight the glass bathtub sides and create a clear line of vision all the way to the outside view.

And if all that isn’t enough, the space even features a basement wetbar and home theater. With a home like this, there’s sure to never be a dull moment!
