Decorating with Plaid: It’s Not Just for Lumberjacks Anymore

We are seeing plaid all over fashion this season! I for one wear it several times a week and could wear it almost everyday. Whether it’s a flannel shirt, plaid button up, or a tartan skirt, I’m in love with this trend. Plaid is the perfect addition for these cold months and I’ve enjoyed seeing it more and more in decor. It gives off a warm, inviting vibe and is definitely not just in your Grandpa’s home anymore. Plaid or tartan can easily be translated into modern spaces. I’ve found the best way to introduce this trend is in small doses. Adding plaid pillows to your home is usually the simplest way to be on trend and requires the least amount of long-term investment for those who change their minds often. But, if you really are in love with this vibe, you could even upholster an entire chair in tartan.
Here’s an example of adding plaid in small portions. This modern/rustic bed pairs classic bedding choices with a pop of plaid in the pillowcases. It’s easy to get tired of such a specific trend and this can be changed out easily.

This plaid rug instantly creates a stunning space. With a patterned rug like this, it’s best to pair it with simple, modern pieces and neutral textiles.
Here’s another plaid pillow to show what an easy way this is to add that element of tartan to your home. The antlers give this pillow an extra punch of coolness!
What are your thoughts on this trend? Would you introduce plaid to your space?
