House Tour | Christian May

by ·

Christian May, of Maison21, has been dazzling the design world for years as an interior decorator with a keen eye and fun sense of humor. He designs to make the world a bit prettier for the good of mankind and we are definitely on board with that life mission!

His style reflects his home city of Los Angeles – modern, laid back, and fun! So we’re excited to take you on a house tour with Christian May.

Keeping some of the historical elements of the home, a brick fireplace acts as the focal point for the open concept home. Brick can sometimes feel heavy but the white treatment brightens the space and brings the characteristic Los Angeles charm to the forefront.

If you follow our Designer Spotlights or House Tours in the past, you already know our obsession with the mid-century modern style. So, naturally, we adore the stylish mid-century modern coffee table and dining set.

Plus, this is an apt lesson in coffee table sizing – bigger isn’t always better! This coffee table is perfectly sized for the couch and room itself, accentuating the length of the space with its longer proportions.

Flip the switch and we can see the rest of the room! Notice, my dear design lovers, there is no artwork hanging from the walls! Hole-free and just as beautiful.

Next, we journey into the kitchen, our favorite space not the least because of the expansive Piatra Grey countertops. We also love the subway tile backsplash and modern dark vent hood to match the dark counters.

In true Angelino form, Christian opts for open shelving against the subway tile backsplash. Christian May is known for his eclectic home accessories so open shelves are the ultimate kitchen display.

Galley kitchens can sometimes be a design mystery – how do you maximize storage and functionality in such narrow quarters? Like this. Just like this.

From funky lighting to classic colors, we adore Christian May’s design. We would expect nothing less from such a talented designer!

…Until next time!
