Designer Spotlight | Lauren Rubin Architecture

by ·

When thinking about the Big Apple, small apartments with little light come to mind. Lauren Rubin Architecture challenges what you know about New York apartments and shows that any space can feel expansive. LRA is an architecture and design firm specializing in beautiful and clean modernism by combining contemporary architecture with a warm design aesthetic to create a wonderful space for living. Let’s explore!

LRA kept this Union Square combination light and bright by using all white: white floor to ceiling cabinets, open shelving, Statuario Nuvo countertops, and under-cabinet lighting. We can get lost in the geometric backsplash that gives the kitchen a ton of personality and fun.

Just outside the cooking nook is a large Statuario Nuvo waterfall edge island that doubles as storage and a dining table. Always be Wine Wednesday ready with a built-in wine fridge!

Clean lines and so much symmetry! From the shaker cabinets to the subway tile and French door, we’re in love with this design. The sleek Caesarstone countertop adds the perfect contrast to the all-white Art Deco combo.

Dark Mahogany + Blizzard countertops are a dream team. LRA created custom cabinetry with the contractor while staining the existing pre-war flooring.

If the countertop looks deeper than usual, that’s because it is. LRA designed the kitchen with 28” counter depth and upper cabinets 22” above the Blizzard counters to create more of an open look.

A little natural light goes a long way! Light simply bounces off the custom grey and white cabinets, Blizzard counters, and Calacatta marble backsplash. LRA also added a mix of open shelving to keep the space feeling open.

When living in a Fifth Avenue penthouse, let the view be the focal point of the design! LRA toned down the colors in the kitchen with an all-white design including Blizzard countertops. Notice anything missing? No uppers keeping the space feeling airy.

With a minimal kitchen, LRA created a dramatic black-and-white master bathroom. Who doesn’t want their own Pure White vanity specifically for makeup purposes?

Lauren Rubin Architects has sparked the creative storage solution bug in us. How will you make the most of your small space?
