Trend Tracker: Bulls-Eye and Shooting Range Targets
As a designer, I’m always looking for interesting graphics or objects that work in any décor and, surprisingly, they are not that easy to find. When I do discover something that translates well into all kinds of interiors, I become obsessed. My latest obsession is using targets in interior design.
While there are multiple kinds of target designs, the two types I find to be the most successful are the traditional bulls-eye design and the shooting range design. Targets can be displayed artistically, like in the example above, to provide graphic appeal and versatility. Hung by themselves or in multiples, these targets are both interesting and delightful.
This room includes a framed gallery of silhouetted targets in a controlled palette, making a clear and somewhat amusing design statement. This type of target is my personal favorite because of the tremendous personality it brings to the space.
Hit the Pillow
I find the use of this simple, oversized bulls-eye design as a headboard is a terrific idea. You can never go wrong with a bold two-toned graphic, and targets make a great statement piece.
Placed casually among other objects, this bulls-eye target is the “real deal.” The tiny dart holes suggest it was used for more than just design. Visual appeal, graphic impact, and character—all in all an amazing feat for any piece of décor.
What creative ways have you seen targets used in home décor?
